Belle Vue is the home of the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
In 1873 a group of young men from the local Holy Trinity Church formed the Wakefield Trinity club. Wakefield Trinity is also one of the original twenty-two rugby clubs that formed the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895 which makes them one of the world's first rugby league teams.
