The original Bradford Football Club was formed in 1863 and played rugby football, subsequently joining the Rugby Football Union.

The club was founded in 2001 in Perpignan, France, under the name “Union Treiziste Catalan”; following the merger of the successful XIII Catalan club and close neighbours Saint Estève, they continue to play in the French Championship under this name, which is often abbreviated to UTC.

The club was founded as Salford in 1873 by the boys of the Cavendish Street Chapel in Hulme, Manchester. The club is set to move to a new purpose-built 20,000 capacity stadium in the Barton-upon-Irwell area of Eccles in 2011.
